Baby Fat

We had our 4 month (17 week) Dr.'s appt on Tuesday. It was the least eventful visit we've had so far: I've gained 3 lbs since our visit last month, everything is normal and she was able to hear the baby's heartbeat with the doppler. Baby had a heartbeat of 150 bpm. I had a blood draw for the Quad Screen (which screens for spinal defects and chromosomel abnormalities such as Downs Syndrome). We will find out the results at our next visit at 21 weeks. We will also have an ultrasound at the next appt. and hopefully find out the sex of the baby!

Baby is starting to accumulate fat this week so I thought it would be an appropriate week to put up the requested belly pictures. Not too much there yet, but it's starting to be more noticeable now...

Since my belly is starting grow I've been very dedicated to slathering on my Mama Mio Tummy Rub to prevent stretch marks. A friend of mine recommended it to me and so far I love the way it makes my tummy feel and smell! It's also fairly inexpensive. You can get it on their website (http://www.mamamio.com/us/pregnancy-skincare/tummy-rub-stretch-mark-butter.html) with free shipping so I really feel like it's a good deal.

Week 17: Onion
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.
