All Things Baby

Since it's been over a month since I posted I decided to make this blog all things baby!

We have the baby's name picked out (and have since about 21 weeks), but we're still not sharing. I'm sorry we're still holding out on those of you who really want to know!
Taken 7.21.12 in Estes Park, CO.
We're 32 weeks and I'm feeling more ready everyday for the new baby to be born. I'm feeling like my abdomen is stretched to the max already. I'm not sure how much bigger I'll get since the baby will officially start putting on a 1/2 lb per week until he's born. I did some math and if he's as big as Joe (9 lbs, 7oz) at 40 weeks that would put baby on the following weight schedule:
40 weeks - 9+ lbs
38 weeks - 8+ lbs
36 weeks - 7+ lbs
34 weeks - 6+ lbs
32 weeks (now) - 5+ lbs (most babies average about 4 lbs, 19" this week)

I'm rubbing copious amounts of Bio Oil and Mama Mio Tummy Butter on my belly 2-3 times a day. It's silly how much I'm using really, but I really feel like I need it. He moves around a lot. He's most active between 8-12 pm. Which does not help me get to bed!

I'm not sleeping very well. Every time I have to change sides I wake myself up. Naps are becoming more and more longed for these days. I took a lot more naps when I was pregnant with Joe; sometimes it's just not possible with everything I have to do now and Joseph not being a great napper himself. It's just something that's helping me prepare because I have a feeling sleep is going to be nonexistent in a few months. I am feeling better with the iron supplements, but the 3rd trimester has been exhausting!

I'm definitely getting the nesting instinct as well. We have most of the baby's room stuff (crib, dresser, bedding etc). I'm still looking for a changing table that goes with his furniture. We didn't buy his set new so I'm hoping to find one on craiglist too, though, I may have to break down and buy it on hayneedle.com. It's the same set as Joseph's. We decided to choose something similar to Joe's to avoid any envy. We also wanted to use the soothing blue and brown colors again. I'm ready to get the baby's room put together in the next couple of weeks! I think I had Joe's room done by now so I feel like I'm holding out pretty well.

I have a few things planned ahead to help with bringing a new baby home again. I think we're better prepared this time as to what to expect. I'm going to have help with the house for a few weeks after the baby is born and I'm already cooking/freezing meals to use this fall. I'm still completely overwhelmed about how to juggle Joseph with the new baby. I feel like he still needs me so much and he's going to have a big adjustment with Syd leaving for college and a new baby all in the same month. It seems like everyone is coming and going all the time with Jud still going back and forth and Ruggs' travel schedule; I'm really hoping that eventually the new baby will add a sense of stability to our house for Joseph.

We are expecting another ultrasound in 4 weeks to find out how big baby is. It can be wrong + or - a lb, but it may help give us an estimate. I'm hoping to get a glimpse of his little face while we're there! I can't wait to have a squishy little newborn again!

  1. You are a great writer, a great momma, a great daughter, a great person. You amaze your momma. I will be here for you. Overwhelmed & anxious is normal. I love you. I love Joe. I treasure our time together. Playtime with Joe is so fun for us. He is a special, extraordinary little person (too smart beyond comprehension). Our Baby Einstein.
